OUR APPROACH TO ALTERNATIVE KINDERGARTEN
Hummingbird Academy's approach to kindergarten offers young children the perfect balance between learning and childhood. At this early age, children learn best when they are engaged, curious, and not overwhelmed or overtired. A shorter school day allows our students to build strong academic foundations in academic subjects, creative play and social skills while still having plenty of quality time at home with family, as well as lots of time for free play, outdoor exploration
Research and experience both show that play, imagination, and unstructured time are just as important as classroom learning for developing creativity, social skills, and emotional well-being. Our half-day programs help children develop a love of learning, confidence, and independence without the burnout that can come from a long, full-day, technology-heavy schedule too early in life.
In our classroom, we also choose not to use technology, as children at this age benefit far more from hands-on learning, books, art, music, movement, and social interaction rather than screens.
While we are housed within a church Hummingbird Academy is not religiously affiliated and welcomes all denominations and beliefs.

Hummingbird Academy strives to create diverse child led experiences, while enhancing your child's ability to socialize with others. We will always encourage your child to be creative and think outside the box. At Hummingbird we hope to help your child express themselves, gain confidence as well as develop a sense of community.

Our approach allows for a small group, technology free program, using hands on lessons, fostering back to basics style learning with tailor made lessons to reach all learners. An environment built to optimize learning while still allowing the parents to be the primary educator.
